TinyML and Importance of Data-Centric Approach by Dr Owais

Dr Owais Ahmed Malik, our SDS Assistant Professor and Director of Institute of Applied Data Analytics at UBD was one of the keynote speaker at the International Conference on Information Technology and Digital Applications (ICITDA).
International Conference on Information Technology and Digital Applications (ICITDA) is an annual international conference organized by the Department of Informatics, Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII). Due to the covid-19 pandemic, this conference was held virtually in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, on Friday-Saturday (5-6 November 2021). The conference theme for this year is “Cybersecurity in Data Science Era”.
This year’s conference featured four keynote speakers, Dr. Owais Ahmed Malik (Universiti Brunei Darussalam), Dr. M. Andri Setiawan (Universitas Islam Indonesia), Dr. Nurul Hidayah Ab Rahman (Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia), and Dr. Bernardi Pranggono (Sheffield Hallam University).
As the first keynote speaker, Dr. Owais Ahmed Malik delivered his speech titled “TinyML and Importance of Data-Centric Approach”. Dr. Owais presented the foundations of both tinyML and data-centric approach. He also explained the role of the data-centric model and its implications on the tinyML/embedded AI/edge computing-based applications.
Dr Owais’s research interests are Data Analytics, Intelligent Systems, Machine Learning, Fuzzy Logic, Computer Vision and Image Processing. He teaches Machine Learning, Machine Perception, Computer Architecture and Organisation and Augmented and Virtual Reality at Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
