School of Digital Science participates at the 2023 Brunei Cybersecurity Conference
Showcasing projects at CySec 2023
On the 14th of September 2023, the School of Digital Science (SDS), Universiti Brunei Darussalam participated in a project showcase at the Brunei Cybersecurity Conference (CySec). The event was officiated by Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications. The event was organized by Brunei Cybersecurity Association (BCSA), in collaboration with Cyber Security Brunei, ITPSS Sdn Bhd, and the Association of Information Security Professionals (AiSP) of Singapore.
In conjunction with the conference theme “Securing the Digital Frontier: Navigating Cyber Challenges”, SDS showcased cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and robotics projects. Azryl Sarih exhibited his project entitled “Defense against adversarial attacks on deep convolutional neural networks”. Amir Azizi and Faizuddin, SDS bachelor graduates showcase SDS's newly launched product, CareerBN. It is an intelligent online portal for matching satisfactory jobs to suitable candidates. The product is accessible at https://www.careerbn.com. In addition, SDS postgraduate students exhibited their artificial and robotic projects. Some projects showcased were on social awareness for safe navigation in the crowd and self-supervised odometry estimation for safe navigation by Hafiq Anas and Nazrul Fitri respectively. Meanwhile, Noorsyamimi and Amirul Raziq shared their projects on deep learning autonomous driving and unsupervised human activity discovery respectively.
SDS participation was good exposure for staff and students, sharing their activities and also gaining knowledge and forming networks among tech experts.
