Congratulations, Dr Soni!
Dr Soni Karri Lanka has passed her viva earlier this year in June with her research project, Identification and classification of driving behaviour at signalized intersections using machine learning".
Dr Soni was working on “Identification and classification of driving behaviour at signalized intersections using machine learning” as her PhD research project and passed her viva on 21 June 2021 under the supervision of Prof Liyanage Chandratilak De Silva, Dr Daphne Teck Ching Lai and Dr Shiaw Yin Yong.
Her notable work was her paper “Identification and classification of driving behaviour at signalized intersections using support vector machine” published at the International Journal of Automation & Computing.
In addition, she has published the following conference papers:
Classification and Prediction of Driving Behaviour at a Traffic Intersection Using SVM and KNN
Classification of driving behaviour using machine learning methods at signalized intersections in urban and suburban roads
She was part of an ongoing project on modelling of traffic driving behaviour using simulation data. Previously, she presented her research to the Minister of MTIC at a road safety event.
Earlier this year and last, we conducted a volunteer recruitment drive for this project. We are currently looking for interested PhD candidates who wish to work on this project. Kindly email daphne.lai@ubd.edu.bn
